Types of Interpretation

Whether you need consecutive or simultaneous interpreting, with a booth, portable interpretation devices , or no special equipment at all – whether your event is in-person or online – different types of interpretation may be suitable depending on the event format, venue, number of participants, and overall setup. Together, we’ll determine your goals and decide how our interpreters can best support you.

Languages

This aspect isn’t as straightforward as it might seem. International conferences are often planned with the assumption that “everyone speaks English.” To ensure clear, transparent, and fair communication for all participants, we need to analyse who will be attending, in what roles, and what their language needs are. This way, we can identify which languages should be offered for interpretation.

Interpretation Team

Once we’ve determined the languages required for your event, I’ll assemble the interpretation team. Typically, two to three interpreters per language work together in a booth. With my extensive network, I’ll find the interpreters whose experience and expertise are the best fit for our team. Often, these colleagues already know each other and are a well-coordinated team.

Equipment and Technology

The equipment and technology used will vary depending on the type of event. For simultaneous interpretation, the technical provider will set up the required number of booths and arrange for the necessary equipment such as headsets, microphones, and receivers. In some settings, portable interpretation devices might be used. For online meetings, choosing the right platform with interpretation capabilities is crucial. I’m here to advise you with my expertise and can also organize the technology for you.

Process

How does an event with interpretation actually work? How will participants hear the interpretation, and how can they ensure their contributions are interpreted accurately?
